A shelter was created near the prairie where a visitor may sit protected and look out across the prairie. The main structure was built using raw pine logs which had died in the older pine grove. These logs are not milled and their character is preserved in the structure – lending it a rustic look. Wood shingles which were recovered and repurposed from a house nearby further give it a cozy, natural feel. Below are views of its construction and the finished project. Some shots from across the prairie show how well the structure blends in.
