Prairie Woods Arboretum is a privately owned 200 acre property and plant collection operated by the Freemans since 1976.
Currently there are well over 700 different plants identified. In addition to plants, 22 fungus species are listed here and 200 various animals (including insects, birds, etc.) The list is constantly being updated as more plants are introduced or another animal is discovered.

Native Prairie
In 2022 4 acres were seeded into native prairie forbs and grasses. Click through to view the list of the more than 100 species planted and to see the way it was created.

Conifer Collection
An area dedicated to specialty conifer varieties and cultivars was created in 2024. This area currently has over 200 varieties, with expansions coming in 2027.

Fruit Collection
The collection includes over 60 different varieties of apple, pear, plum, cherry, and apricot trees.

Flowering Crabapples
More than 40 unique varieties of flowering crabapples make up the collection.
